How To Create A TechKnight

WARNING! With the release of the latest version, this section is no longer step-by-step correct. I'll try to update it shortly.

We are not currently accepting applications for non-Blaster TechKnights. Applications for new AR/Dev TechKnights are always welcome!

Prospective members that feel they have a compelling reason to play a different Archetype or Power Set should contact the TechKnight leadership with their proposal.

The specific process of creating a TK is shown below. Please review this process before starting the game, so you are familiar with the available choices.

  1. Start the COH game
  2. Pick a server.
    Currently, the only active TechKnight Chapter House is on Champion. (If you'd like to start a Chapter House on a different server, please start a discussion thread on the forum)
  3. Pick an Archetype. (See TK Power Sets.)

    Preferred: Blaster

  4. Pick an Origin. (See TK Origins.)

    Preferred: Technology

  5. Pick a Primary and Secondary Power Set. (See TK Power Sets.)

    Preferred: Assault Rifle / Devices

  6. Pick a Body Type.
    • Type: Male or Female.
      • Male:
        • Athletic, all sliders at 0.
        • Short/Tall, No change. Height should be JUST under 6'

      • Female:
        • Athletic.
        • Chest slider to 0.
        • Short/Tall moved a bit to the right. Height should be JUST under 6'

  7. Costume:
    • Color:
      • Skin: Any of the top three rows.
      • Linked: J1/A1 [White/Black]
    • Head: Full Helmets.
      • Helmet: Retro Tech
      • Detail 1: None
      • Detail 2: Tek Shield
      • Detail 3: Twin Gas Mask
    • Upper Body: Armored
      • Chest: Tech Wired, Tech Wired.
      • Shoulders: None.
      • Chest Detail: None
      • Gloves: Smooth/Bare, Armor Plate, None.
      • Belt: Tactical 1
    • Lower Body: Armored
      • Tight: Tech Wired, Tech Wired.
      • Boots: Smooth, Tech Wired, None.
    • Make back of helmet white:
      • Unlink Colors.
      • Head: [no change]
        • Helmet: [no change], J1/J1 [White/White]
  8. Pick a name:

    All Tech-Knight names start with the upper-case letters "TK", a dash, and three numbers. (TK-411, TK-666, TK-789) We'll worry about using four digits when we get close to 1000 members. :)

  9. Get the Isolator badge. :)

    We recommend, but certainly do not require, that TKs get the Isolator badge. You get the badge for defeating 100 of the Contaminated in the tutorial.

    Many of us are "badge collectors" and the tutorial is the only place you can find Contaminated, short of using the Oroborous portal after level 25. Get the badge here, before you enter Paragon City.

    Tip: Finish all the tutorial missions but do not talk to Coyote to clear the final mission. You'll be level 2, and you'll be able to defeate the Contaminated much more quickly.
